In allowed their opponents no chance as they made sure they also celebrated spades having completed their task for they lifted their 4th IPL title in Dubai. MS Dhoni’s team won Eoin Morgan's KKR in the final by 27 runs.

On this day on 2021, Chennai Super Kings conquered their Indian Premier League trophy for the fourth time as they prevailed over Kolkata Knight Riders in the final by 27 runs at the Dubai International Stadium. This was sweet revenge for MS Dhoni’s men, who were bounced back after failing to make it to the playoffs in the previous season. This win in the finals was the icing on the cake for the consistent CSK that they had been throughout IPL 2021 as well as Ruturaj Gaikwad helping them during that season with a century and four fifties.

CSK came into bat first and set a challenging score of 192 runs in 20 overs. Faf du Plessis was the star of the innings with the blade as he scored 86 runs off 59 balls hitting along boundaries and running when required. Ruturaj Gaikwad had a good performance at the top scoring a steady 32. Towards the end Robin Uthappa (31) and Moeen Ali (37*) chipped in valuable runs helping CSK achieve the target.

CSK defeats KKR in the final

KKR replied by whooping in reply as their openers Venkatesh Iyer (50) and Shubman Gill (51) added 91 runs for the first wicket. But CSK's bowlers coordinated the comeback impressively by taking wickets at regular intervals. Shardul Thakur was the best among the 3/38 bowlers. Ravindra Jadeja and Joshua Hazlewood did not threaten results, let alone allow KKR to build any pulsive anticipation.

With this victory, CSK attained victory for the fourth time, just like the Mumbai Indians, making both the teams the most successful teams in the history of the tournament.

Individual performances were best epitomized by Ruturaj Gaikwad within the entire season. Gaikwad’s contribution of 635 runs earned him the Orange Cap, thus making him the youngest cricketer to have ever won the accolade. For his efforts, he was also named the Emerging Player of the Season. Gaikwad became the first player that is not a sport to win an Ipl title and the Orange Cap together in one season which is a remarkable feat as it is his beginning years in the cricket world.

And, the celebrations were conducted with special backdrops with a particular influence of dominance for the already experienced MS Dhoni – and hence cemented once again in 2021, his status as one commandable and revered captain and strategist in T20 cricket. Each CSK title won along with the captain exemplified the repeated element of perseverance and determination that the team has always embodied, thus once again making the case for one of the most stable teams in the history of the IPL.
