UAE announces resumption of flights to Syria, says GCAA

The United Arab Emirates General Civil Aviation Authority in a statement on Monday said that the flights to Syria have now been resumed.
GCAA explained in its statement that, "The General Civil Aviation Authority has lifted the suspension of aerial services between the United Arab Emirates and the Syrian Arab Republic. Active coordination is still ongoing to put in place the requirements for the resumption of flights operations between both countries so as to optimize air connectivity and facilitate the movement of passengers and cargo."
All air travel for the UAE and Syria was halted in January after the Assad regime was overthrown in December 2024. A Syrian Airlines flight to Sharjah became the first international commercial flight to leave Damascus after the Assad regime was overthrown with 145 passengers onboard.
The meeting which was carried out by the Sheikh was aimed at discussing further steps of the united Arab Emirates plans with Syria which leaded the country to extend an invitation to Al Sharaa to enhance their collaboration in the middle eastern region.
The discussions of the meetings were primarily meant to elaborate the means of supporting Syria which the UAE spearhead among other nations.
GCAA Travel Chat is available on WhatsApp and the General Civil Aviation Authority of Saudi Arabia are announcing that a team are going to visit Syria to prepare for resuming flights between the two countries.
