Sheikh Hamdan arrives in India; set to meet with senior officials
The Dubai Media Office has confirmed that the Crown Prince of Dubai Sheikh Hamdan landed in India on Tuesday, April 8, 2023, for his first official visit to the country. The visit for two-day long is being paid at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi will end on April 9.
Sheikh Hamdan was received at the airport by Suresh Gopi, India's Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Tourism.
The Dubai Crown Prince would be discussing with the senior officials on the possible partnership and cooperation between the UAE and India during this delegation tour. The visit is intended to reinforce the bilateral relations and build avenues for further cooperation between the two counties.
On April 8, Sheikh Hamdan will be hosted by Prime Minister Modi for a working lunch. He will also hold talks with external affairs minister Dr S Jaishankar and defence minister Rajnath Singh.
Sheikh Hamdan also will stop on the second day of this trip official in Mumbai. He will also attend a business roundtable with high-profile business leaders from both sides during the visit.
Over recent years, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed and Narendra Modi have overseen strengthening bilateral ties between the UAE and India. The UAE President, who was chief guest at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, was greeted warmly in India on Tuesday after he arrived at the Gujarat Raj Bhavan.
Last year on Sept 8, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, had also represented the UAE for an official visit to India. And on September 9, he interacted with Narendra Modi and discussed various facets of bilateral cooperation. He also paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.
Dubai has been significant in India-UAE commerce and commerce, civilizational and men-to-men exchanges. At the start of 2024, the UAE had approximately 4 million Indians as their population.
