The woman had called on a TV show to complain.


Sharjah Ruler came to the aid of an Emirati woman after her plea for help to a local television station.

His Highness Dr Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, ordered the Sharjah police to release the Emirati woman's husband, Abu Saif, who was arrested due in the case of an unpaid debt.

The woman had called in a show on a local TV channel, and after listening to the complaint, Dr Sheikh Sultan called Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, and asked him to immediately resolve the issue.

The quick royal intervention saw the husband released and at his home in 53 minutes - after the complaint.

In a call to the program "Al Khat Al Mubasher" (the direct line), Al Shamsi said that he received a call from Sheikh Sultan exactly at 3:07 afternoon, directing him to solve the problem of the woman, Umm Saif, and exactly at 4 pm, her husband returned home.

He added that the next day, while the husband was at his office, Sheikh Sultan called again, and asked to talk to Abu Saif. Speaking to him on the phone, Sheikh Sultan gave him much invaluable advice on maintaining the stability of his house and family.

Al Shamsi further said that the police will contact the Finance Department for paying the man's debts, hence resolving the matter.
