Dubai searches for best voices for call to prayer, launches 'Quran in every home' initiative

The day began until Ramadan, when Dubai announced the second year of a project to enhance families' involvement in the development of national identity and social and Islamic values in future generations. 

The "Muadhin Al-Farij" drive will be followed in 2014 by a new model of family in national identity promotion. 

There is also a new initiative "Quran in Every Home" started by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Vice Prime Minister, Defence Minister, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai. 

This will make sure every Dubai household receives a copy of the Holy Quran, educating people on religion, and makes the Quran easily available. Then the family and those living in the neighborhood to read and reflect upon the Holy Quran during Ramadan. 

Copy of the Quran will be handed out in different mosques in Dubai where people worship. Sheikh Hamdan also re-educated the 50% growth in the number of mosques for the "Mu'adhin Al-Farij" project that focused on child-friendly children from 6-14 years olds. 

Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi is a Director General of the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai and he is optimistic about seeing emerging talents on show for the second season and contributing to the goals of the project. 

Adhan contest  

The drive aims to help schools to better understand mosques, encourage kids to sing the Call to Prayer (Adhan) and motivate them to attend the Taraweeh ceremonies during Ramadan to strengthen the bond they have with the mosque. 

DAMED (Imamlianic Affairs and Charitable Activity Department) announced that submission for the contest for Best Voices for Adhan will be held on January 13, submission deadline for February 7. Selection and evaluation will be started on February 10. 

The department also provided the information on submission criteria which will then be standardized in order to pick out the best and distinguished voices delivering the Adhan.
