Dubai: RTA announces temporary closure of some roads for women cycling race

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) declared that roads in Dubai will face temporary closures on Thursday, February 6 for the UAE Tour Women cycling race. 


The cycling race will begin at 12.45pm from the Dubai Police Officer's Club and end at Dubai Harbour at 4.40pm. The RTA stated that roads will remain closed until the final cyclist finishes passing through. 


The authority said that the 15 affected streets will be:  

  • Latifa Hospital Street  

  • Oud Metha Road  

  • Al Seef Street  

  • Corniche Street  

  • Al Khaleej Street  

  • Omar bin Al Khattab Street  

  • Baniyas Road  

  • Rebat Street  

  • Tripoli Street  

  • Zayed bin Hamdan  

  • Al Qudra Street  

  • Sayh As Salam Street  

  • Umm Suqeim Street  

  • King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street  

  • Dubai Harbour area  


The authority requested drivers to plan their trips in advance and leave early to guarantee they reach their destination without problems. 
The UAE Tour Women features four stages which run from Thursday, February 6 through Sunday, February 9. 


Top stars in action  

Elisa Longo Borghini leads the world cycling's biggest stars at the start as the winner of the historic inaugural edition of 2023 while riding for UAE Team ADQ with climbing help from Silvia Persico who secured third place in 2023. 

The current Giro d’Italia Women winner will compete against formidable rivals including Mavi Garcia who finished third in 2024, French national champion Juliette Labous, double Giro d’Italia Women runner-up Ashleigh Moolman Pasio and White Jersey favorite Antonia Niedermaier. 

The competition for sprint finishes will be fierce with European champion Lorena Wiebes and Charlotte Kool as key competitors. Watch for strong sprint finishes from Chiara Consonni along with Elisa Balsamo and Vittoria Guazzini. 

The start list showcases top athletes such as Pauline Ferrand-Prévot who holds 12 world championships and an Olympic gold medal, along with Paris-Roubaix Femmes winners Elizabeth Deignan and Alison Jackson.

  • February 6: Stage 1: Dubai Police Officer’s Club-Dubai Harbour, 149km

  • February 7: Stage 2: Al Dhafra Fort-Al Mirfa, 111km

  • February 8: Stage 3: Al Ain Qasr Al Muwaiji-Jebel Hafeet, 152km

  • February 9: Stage 4: Abu Dhabi Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Academy-Abu Dhabi Breakwater, 128km
