Dubai businessman donates Dh3 billion to build hospital in memory of daughter lost to cancer

A local businessman declared his commitment to donate around Dh3 billion to the Fathers Endowment campaign initiated by the Dubai Ruler on February 21.
The Azizi Group's founder and chairman Mirwais Azizi gave the donation to honor his late daughter Farishta Azizi who succumbed to aggressive cancer.
The donation will create a non-profit hospital in Dubai to provide free and affordable cancer treatment services to UAE patients. He announced during his interview with Khaleej Times at the Arab Hope Maker 2025 event in Dubai that the hospital will feature a research facility to bring advanced cancer treatment technology to the region. UAE citizens will have access to top-tier cancer treatment without needing to travel abroad.
The hospital development will occur within a humanitarian medical complex which includes both a research centre and a medical training facility. The UAE private sector has made its largest ever single humanitarian donation.
He announced that this year will mark the start of hospital construction and he will build similar hospitals in various countries globally.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice-President and Dubai's Ruler, established the Fathers Endowment initiative to honor fathers through a sustainable fund to help people receive necessary treatment and healthcare.
The campaign launch marks another instance of Sheikh Mohammed's consistent tradition of starting charitable and humanitarian initiatives throughout Ramadan.
Farishta Azizi pursued architecture studies before becoming a cancer patient several years ago. Her cancer went into remission initially but came back with force after her treatments.
Farhad Azizi who serves as CEO for the Azizi Group and Farishta's brother disclosed on the video at the event that their family provided her with superior medical care. He said they had the good fortune to provide her with the highest quality medical treatment possible. We realize that not all families can afford to provide the best medical care for their loved ones. We hope this donation reaches those who require support the most.
