Cambridge High School Abu Dhabi win ILT20 Schools Cup
In the DP World ILT20 Schools Cup 2024, Cambridge High School Abu Dhabi won the championship after defeating Gems Modern Academy, Dubai by an edge of six runs.
The majority of the action occurred towards the end of the contest, and that was a very impressive start to the first day of the DP World ILT20 Junior Cricket Festival as the final was played over a period of time.
Fans and families were excited by the event which by many were referred as a festival as it was filled with interactive games, food stalls and lots of activities around which made it a great event celebrating cricket.
Delhi Cambridge School – Abu Dhabi batting first made a total of 157 runs at the loss of two wickets in twenty overs. Opening batsmen Prithvi Madhu and Yayin Kiran, both managed to score near a hundred with 65 and 58 runs respectively.
In the death overs, Ishaan Sujay Rai also had a very important knock of 15 runs in just 5 balls.
On the other hand, Gems Modern Academy, Dubai responded very poorly to the target and were at 151/8 in 20 overs. Aryan Thapar finished with being the top scorer with 47 runs with contributions from Sanjith Ram and Jaidev Gattani with 26 and 24 runs respectively.
Yayin Kiran Rai put up an outstanding performance as she was able to claim two wickets and concede only 24 runs. Additionally, the innings was also characterized by no fewer than four batsmen being run out.
As for the DP World ILT20 Junior Cricket Festival, there was a great turnout as families and fans relished the cricket match and fun activities at the ICC Academy.
It was a successful event where cricket was played alongside games, food stalls and lots of entertainment for everyone. After Saturday’s boys cricket festival, Sunday hosted the girls’ cricket festival, in yet another day of family fun, cricket and festivities.
