Beware of Deceptive Nol Card Scams in Dubai, RTA Warns

The Dubai Road Transport Authority (RTA) has issued a warning about fraudulent marketing campaigns and fake Nol cards. The caution follows a report by Khaleej Times exposing deceptive websites posing as the RTA's platform, targeting individuals seeking to top up their smart cards. The RTA urged customers to be cautious, emphasizing the risks related to counterfeit Nol cards, deceptive credit top-ups, and unauthorized data collection. Several individuals have reported significant financial losses due to counterfeit websites. The RTA advised users to use official channels like the RTA website, ticket offices, vending machines, and RTA Dubai and Nol pay applications to avoid falling victim to scams. A concerning trend involves deceptive websites appearing in search results when users query 'Nol recharge,' leading to financial losses and unauthorized data collection. Dubai resident Mohammad Salman lost Dh1,051 to a fraudulent website while attempting to recharge his Nol card with Dh10. Salman fell victim to deceptive websites that mimic legitimate platforms, leading users to enter sensitive information and make unauthorized payments. Cybersecurity experts highlight the need for increased awareness and caution among users to avoid falling prey to scams.
