Rainstorms hit various country regions this morning before the National Centre of Meteorology released predictions of rainfall and notable temperature drops in specific areas.

Rain occurred for motorists traveling on Dubai's Al Maktoum Road and also at Dubai International Airport along with Sharjah International Airport and certain areas of Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah.

The National Centre of Meteorology issued orange and yellow blowing dust warnings throughout select regions of the country on Tuesday. From 3.30am until 8pm on February 25 winds ranging from fresh to strong at 55 km/hr will blow and create dusty conditions which will reduce horizontal visibility in some coastal and internal areas.

Sheikh Khalifa International Road from Al Hamra to Mahmiyyat Al Suqour (Al Dhafra Region) will experience dust conditions that reduce horizontal visibility to less than 2,000 metres.

People are advised to stay alert during dangerous weather and follow instructions given by authorities. The authority provided safety instructions for residents to follow in sandy weather conditions. These are:

  • Drivers are required to operate their vehicles safely and adhere to established safety regulations.

  • Ensure that all doors and windows are fastened to keep dust out of buildings

  • Don't expose yourself to dust directly

  • Monitor official weather forecasts

Northern, coastal and eastern areas of the UAE will experience intermittent cloudy and partly cloudy weather conditions as stated.

The NCM issued warnings for severe sea conditions in the Arabian Sea by releasing both red and yellow alerts. Residents need to remain extremely vigilant because hazardous weather events of 'exceptional severity' will occur in the highlighted areas according to the authority's forecast.

The internal regions of the UAE will experience temperatures dropping to 14°C while reaching highs of 26°C in similar areas.
