UAE: Police arrest gang who stole 1,800 laptops worth more than Dh1 million

In Sharjah, a gang of four Arabs has been apprehended for a major theft involving 1,840 laptops valued at over Dh1 million. The arrest came less than 48 hours after the heist, highlighting the swift and effective response by local law enforcement. The suspects were caught through a coordinated operation that tracked their movements and identified key evidence linking them to the crime. The stolen laptops were recovered, preventing further losses and disruption.

An Asian man, who works in a transport services company, said he was on his way to deliver the laptops when the gang stopped him in an industrial area, pretending to be police officers. He discovered later that he had been scammed.

Less than 48 hours after the theft was reported to the Central Operations Room, Sharjah Police swiftly tracked down and arrested the suspects. Their quick response was facilitated by advanced investigative techniques and coordinated efforts, which allowed law enforcement to piece together crucial evidence and locate the culprits. The prompt action not only led to the recovery of the stolen laptops but also highlighted the effectiveness of the police’s crime prevention and response systems. This rapid resolution underscores Sharjah Police's commitment to addressing and solving high-profile cases efficiently, ensuring justice for the victims and maintaining public safety.

"After verifying the information, a team of officers immediately started the investigation," said Col Abdul Rahman Nasser Al Shamsi, deputy director of the Criminal Investigations Department of the Sharjah Police.

"Based on the data they had gathered, they tracked down the suspects and monitored them closely before arresting them and bringing them to justice," he said.
