Flights between UAE and Manila “are still operating as normal” and no suspension has yet been announced despite Typhoon Gaemi and a southwest monsoon bringing heavy rain on Wednesday to the Philippine capital region and nearby provinces.

Budget carrier Cebu Pacific (CebPac), which operates daily flights between Abu Dhabi and Manila, has yet to make any new announcements regarding its services. As of now, the airline continues to run its flights as scheduled, maintaining its regular operations without any reported disruptions. This consistency is crucial for travelers relying on the connectivity between the UAE and the Philippines.

Similarly, Etihad Airways, based in Abu Dhabi, has confirmed that their flights between Abu Dhabi and Manila are running smoothly. A spokesperson from Etihad Airways reassured passengers that there are no current disruptions to their services, emphasizing that flights are operating normally. This stability ensures that travelers can rely on both Cebu Pacific and Etihad Airways for their travel plans between these two major cities, maintaining seamless connections and dependable service for those journeying between Abu Dhabi and Manila.

“We are closely monitoring the situation as Typhoon Gaemi and strong monsoon conditions impact the Western Pacific region. We continue to assess the situation and will make adjustments if necessary to ensure the safety of our passengers and crew,” the Etihad spokesperson continued.

Dubai-based Emirates has yet to make an announcement.

Several domestic flights by both PAL and CebPac, however, have been canceled.

Meanwhile, the Philippine government has suspended classes at all academic levels and work in most government offices in Metro Manila, which is composed of 16 cities and home to at least 13 million people, because of the tropical storm.

Typhoon Gaemi (local name: Carina), with maximum sustained winds of 155 k/ph and gustiness of up to 190 k/ph, did not make landfall but it is enhancing a southwest monsoon, resulting in heavy to intense rain in Luzon for the past three days.
On Wednesday, the Philippine Coast Guard reported that 354 passengers and 31 vessels were stranded in various ports across the country due to adverse weather conditions. This disruption has significantly impacted travel and logistics, with many travelers left waiting for alternate arrangements. Additionally, Manila's airport authority announced that 13 domestic flights were canceled as a result of the same weather-related issues. These cancellations have caused considerable inconvenience for passengers, affecting travel plans and schedules.

The combined effects of port and flight disruptions underscore the challenges faced by both maritime and aviation sectors during severe weather conditions. Efforts are underway to address the situation, with authorities working to provide updates and assistance to stranded passengers and ensure that services can resume as soon as conditions improve.

Travelers are advised to check with their respective airlines and port authorities for the latest information on their travel arrangements.
