Sheikh Hamdan appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, revealed a fresh UAE cabinet on Sunday. After consulting with his brother, Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed, President of the UAE, and receiving his blessing and approval, Sheikh Mohammed announced the establishment of a new ministerial position within the country.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, has taken on significant roles within the UAE government. He now serves as the Deputy Prime Minister and has been appointed as the Minister of Defense of the UAE. Additionally, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan retains his position as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and has also been assigned the role of Deputy Prime Minister.

"Restructuring the Council for Education, Human Resources, and Community Development in the UAE involves appointing Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed as its head, with Sheikha Maryam Bint Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan as Vice-President. The Council now encompasses the Ministry of Community Development alongside the Ministry of Education, Higher Education, Federal Universities, and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation. Additionally, Sheikha Maryam Bint Mohammed Bin Zayed has been appointed as the President of the National Center for Quality Education.

The Education Council, led by Sheikh Abdullah and with Sheikha Maryam as Vice-President, ensures the stability and continuity of education plans and strategies."


The Council will oversee our national human capital, guided by the vision of the State President. This oversight extends from early childhood through general education and higher education, all the way to employment and nationalization. Ultimately, the Council aims to foster stable families capable of producing generations that remain true to their identity, preserving societal values, and adapting to future scientific and technological changes.”

 

Sheikh Mohammed also announced several government changes:

 

The Emirates Foundation for School Education and the Federal Agency for Early Education will merge with the Ministry of Education.

Sarah Al Amiri has been appointed as the Minister of Education in the UAE.

Abdul Rahman Al-Awar will serve as the Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in addition to his existing role as Minister of Emiratisation and Human Resources in the federal government.

Ahmed Belhoul will take on the role of Minister of Sports and President of the Higher Colleges of Technology, alongside his duties as President of the Emirates Space Agency.

Alia Abdullah Al Mazrouei has been appointed as the Minister of State for Entrepreneurship, leveraging her extensive experience in both the private and government sectors. Her mission is to create economic opportunities for the nation’s sons and daughters, capitalizing on the remarkable growth witnessed by our national economy.

 

Lastly, Sheikh Mohammed expressed gratitude to Sarah Al-Musallam for her past efforts and wished her continued success in serving the country.
