1. E311 minimum speed limit lifted

  • The minimum speed limit of 120kmph was removed on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Road (E311) in Abu Dhabi.

  • The one which used to apply on the lanes furthest left, where motorists were fined Dh400 for driving under 120kmph. But on the April 14, drivers noticed the markings for minimum limits had been removed.

  • This comes as a relief for motorists as the move is intended to facilitate the movement of heavy trucks. Even this road has a max speed of 140kmph.


2. Abu Dhabi-Sweihan road

 

  • The speed on this road was restricted down to 100kmph since 14th April. The earlier limit had been 120 kmph so this is a reduction of 20kmph.

  • Also called the International Airport Road (E20). It is important for drivers to note the new speed limit so that they do not face fines for speeding.


3. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed International Road

  • For this artery of road, the reduction again spread from April 14, with the limit cut by 20kmph. The E11 had previously its limit stand at 160 kmph to which the new limit is 140kmph, authorities said.

  • E11 is the longest road in the UAE, connecting Abu Dhabi and Dubai, as well as other emirates of Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, etc. It is called Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai as well.

4. Road in Ras Al Khaimah

  • In January this year, Ras Al Khaimah authorities announced a lower speed limit along a section on Sheikh Mohammed bin Salem Street.

  • The new speed limit is 80kmph for the section from the Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Roundabout (Al Riffa) to the Al Marjan Island Roundabout, previously 100kmph.
