Get a taxi in Dubai in under 3.5 minutes by booking ride via app
The people of Dubai no longer need to spend long periods of time waiting for taxis. According to a new report many e-booked riders now get a cab within four minutes or less for their trips.
According to Adel Shakri from the RTA's Public Transport Agency more than 74% of people who booked trips online in 2024 waited no longer than 3.5 minutes.
The Hala taxi booking system on Careem helps make Dubai roads flow better. The latest figures from RTA show that Hala taxis deployed during busy times take 7,600 vehicles off the roads each day.
The number of taxis driving around for passengers has gone down. Most taxi drivers now work only on pre-booked orders through smart applications because residents trust the city's taxi e-hailing plan.
During peak hours Hala earned more taxi business from the public as their market share increased from 42% in 2023 to 50% in 2024 according to Adel Shakri director of Planning and Business Development at RTA’s Public Transport Agency.
He shared that e-hail ride bookings grew by 16% between 2023 and 2024. Drivers report 50% less daily driving time and travel 4% less distance according to Shakri.
During the past two years the RTA created major developments in taxi services using e-hail technology alongside its strategic projects. According to the official our actions have made services run better and customers happier.
Using online booking saves resources that protect our planet.
Through e-hail adoption the city saved 20,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions in 2024 because e-hailed rides traveled 3 km less than regular taxis and took five minutes less to drive.
